About Strategic Management
OSBM is responsible for coordinating statewide performance initiatives by focusing on services and results, promoting improved performance in agency management, and facilitating executive oversight of agency performance and management. These efforts ensure that agencies are adequately preparing for the future, decision makers are provided with detailed information in order to assess agency management, and citizens are informed about state government work and subsequent results. The overarching goal is to improve state government performance and management.

Performance Management
OSBM implements performance management initiatives for state government that integrate planning, data, and evaluation to drive sound decision-making and achieve continual improvement. |
Strategic Planning
OSBM assists agencies in evaluating their operations, identifying goals, and developing and executing a plan to effectively meet these goals. |
Data Management/Reporting
OSBM collects, analyzes, establishes standards, and disseminates data to support on-going agency strategic planning and to meet the data needs of the government, business, academic, and public communities of North Carolina. |
Clients - Other OSBM sections, Governor's staff, Cabinet and Council of State agencies, and the General Assembly.
Staff - Staff members have advanced degrees and experience in a variety of areas necessary for the implementation of performance and planning initiatives, including budget development, strategic planning, and performance evaluation.
