"Accountability, Transparency, Performance, and Effectiveness are the pillars of management analysis at OSBM."

Data Management and Reporting

Data are vital to the work of the Office of State Budget and Management. Without reliable and accurate data, performance could not be properly evaluated and the state's ability to plan adequately for the future would be limited.

OSBM maintains and reports data in the following ways:

Data Management
OSBM coordinates the collection, dissemination, and analysis of economic, demographic and social statistics pertinent to state budgeting. This includes most statistical data produced by state government agencies. OSBM data management supports performance management and results-based budgeting, develops standard economic and demographic estimates and projections, and enables the public dissemination of detailed census information and demographic estimates and projections.

State Data Center
The State Data Center is a collaborative program between the US Census Bureau and the states that provides for the collection, production, analysis, organization, dissemination, and explanation of government statistical data. OSBM is the lead in a network of over 40 affiliates in North Carolina.

North Carolina 2010 Census
The Census impacts representation, funding, and planning for the next 10 years. The 2010 Census questionnaire is short, and all answers are confidential and protected by federal law. Temporary Census jobs and opportunities to partner with the Census in your community are available now. Participate in making the 2010 Census a success for our state and communities.
